The SEARCH Foundation is an endorsing organisation for the Living Incomes for Everyone Campaign. The LIFE Campaign would welcome active participation from any member or group of members of Search.

The complete list of endorsing organisations can be found here: https://www.livingincomes.org.au/resources/ . You may like to read and discuss the Statement of Demands that has been developed and recently updated by participants and endorsing organisations (located at the same site).

Recently, the LIFE Campaign started national tutorials run online using the ZOOM platform.

The purpose of these tutorials is to introduce endorsing organisations to a broader audience. We aim to build deeper and more knowledgeable connections between unions, especially those organising workers on low and precarious incomes, and non-union working class organisations are inadequate for the circumstances that we face.

Of course, when we put our endorsing organisations front and centre we enable them to explain and discuss why and how they are tackling the major issues of the day. On these occasions all of us gain unique insights into these issues and this can improve our own contribution or enable us to make a new contribution for the first time.

These are the tutorials that we have run so far.

  1. No Cashless Welfare Debit Cards – Kathryn Wilkes and Amanda Smith: CLICK HERE. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_c_btXOgvpI)
  2. First Nations Workers Alliance - Priorities and Building Solidarity – Lara Watson (First Nations Workers Alliance and Edie Shepherd (GetUp). We have technical issues with our recording. It will be re-posted in the next few days. (In the meantime you can see an unedited version here: https://www.facebook.com/DonSutherland2017/videos/586154895888595 )
  3. Single Mothers vs poverty: from ‘Melbourne’s Moral Decay’ to the UN – Terese Edwards, National Council for Single Mothers and Their Children.(CLICK HERE!)
  4. Climate Change, Jobs and Living Incomes - the Links – Colin Long (Victorian Trades Hall Council) and Luke Skinner (Climate Justice Union – WA) CLICK HERE .

We think it is very important that many other working-class organisations know how wonderful organisations like the NO Cashless Welfare Card and the National Council for Single Mothers really are.

Our next national tutorial will be on Wednesday 8 December. We will focus on what 2 of our endorsing organisations have to say about COP 26 in Glasgow.

Recently, one Canadian and 2 Australian union organizations exchanged solidarity greetings that championed the leading role of workers and their communities in pushing a democratic just transition. Each message runs less than 2 mins.
