Please join us for an update from the Myanmar Campaign Network (MCN) on the progress of the campaign for democracy in Myanmar, both here and in Myanmar itself. Come along and hear what has been achieved and what we can do to build the campaign.
The Myanmar Campaign Network is an initiative of Union Aid Abroad – APHEDA and is supported by SEARCH as well as many unions, civil society and Myanmar diaspora organisations.
We will hear from the MCN’s two campaign managers; Tasneem Roc, who spoke at our 2022 AGM, and the new MCN campaign manager, who goes by the pseudonym Chue.
Chue has worked as a program officer for the National Democratic Institute (NDI), the Thabyay Education Foundation and the People’s Alliance for Credible Elections (PACE) in Myanmar. She has also worked as teacher and trainer for the National Catholic Commission on Migration in Thailand.
Since the 2021 Myanmar coup, Tasneem Roc has been active in a number of groups that support the pro-democracy movement in Myanmar including CRPH/NUG Support Group Australia and Blood Money Campaign (BMC).
Tasneem is also the secretary of the Australian Karen Organisation (AKO) NSW, and the secretary for Friends of TCI Australia, an Australian charity that supports the Dr. T Thanbyah Christian Institute, a Karen higher learning institute in a remote area in Eastern Myanmar.
The briefing will be held in person at 6pm on Wednesday 26 July at Level 3, 365 Sussex St, Sydney, and via Zoom. Door will open at 5:30pm. Please try to arrive by 5:45pm so we can take you up to Level 3. RSVP to attend in-person here on this website.
Thanks to the MUA, again, for use of their fantastic Boardroom, which allows us to hold this event in person and via Zoom. If you would like to show your solidarity by donating you can direct deposit to the MUA Fighting Fund BSB: 882-000 Acc: 100002334.
