About Jim Stanford

Jim is the author of Economics for Everyone: A Short Guide to the Economics of Capitalism (second edition published by Pluto Books in 2015), which has been published in six languages, as well as and dozens of academic and popular articles on economics, trade, workers’ rights, industrial relations, economic history and policy. Economics for Everyone is one example of his years of dedication to education for trade unionists and progressive activists. Jim has been demystifying and democratizing economic knowledge, providing the research and evidence to change policies that hurt working people and the environment, advocating and being an activist across two continents for many years.

He has served as the Director of the Centre for Future Work since its founding in 2016.

Jim received his Ph.D. in Economics from the New School for Social Research in New York. He also holds an M.Phil. from Cambridge University, and a B.A. (Hons.) from the University of Calgary.
